Building and Renovating

The building department encompasses the overseeing of the requirements of the Ontario Building Code (O.B.C.) and those of the Municipal Comprehensive Zoning By-law as they relate to buildings. This covers reviewing the permissible uses and the limiting parameters for the different uses on a property as they relate to the Municipal Comprehensive Zoning By-law, once all of the pertinent information has been submitted in writing. It also reviews that minimum standards have been met prior to and for the actual construction of a project through the Ontario Building Code (O.B.C.).

The Building By-Law (2015-009) outlines guidelines and details of building construction, demolition, change of use permits, inspections and fees.

Access to the West Parry Sound Geography Network's interactive mapping allows you to view the zoning areas for properties in each municipality. After agreeing to the disclaimer, click the "Access as Public" button to proceed.

This site attempts to outline the required information to assist in preparing and submitting a full comprehensive project proposal for permit review and a guide to subsequent construction inspections as they relate to the Ontario Building Code and the Municipal Zoning By-law. See the building department list of subpages on the left side of this page to access permits and other information.
